An application to renew the approval an existing surface water supply and approve an increase in allocation from 51.5 mgm to 73.78 mgm of surface water from an existing intake on Reservoir 1 for public water supply. The allocation is due to ongoing expressed interest from residential and commercial developers who wish to bring additional business to the City which will increase the overall water demand. Reservoir 1 is supplemented when necessary with water from two additional interconnected reservoirs (Reservoirs 2 and 3). The applicant also owns and maintains a surface water intake on the Neversink River and additional water storage in Boehmler Pond for emergency backup purposes. The reservoirs and surface water withdrawal are located in the Shingle Kill-Delaware River and Lower Neversink River watersheds in the Town of Deer Park, Orange County, New York, within the drainage area to Middle Special Protection Waters.
